Don’t ignore bleeding teeth, as pyorrhea can cause tooth loss. Good oral hygiene is a must. Pyorrhea also known as periodontitis, is a disorder in which the bones and ligaments that support teeth get affected, because of infection. In this disorder, teeth and gums are badly affected. If left untreated, it can give rise to bad breath, gradually eroding jawbones and ultimately tooth loss. Pyorrhea is the main cause of tooth loss in adults.

Causes:
Infection in gums and teeth, poor hygiene, stress due to which the patient starts grinding his teeth, poor nutrition and deficiency of micronutrients.

Symptoms:
· Pain and Occasional bleeding in gums
· Space between teeth
· Discharge of pus from gums
· Feeling an itching sensation in gums

Prevention:
· By brushing and flossing, you can avoid bad bacterial infecting the gums, bones and ligaments
· Natural oil like peppermint and spearmint eliminate bacteria in mouth
· Include bitter fruits and vegetable in your diet as these are good source of vitamin C, which is very important to prevention of pyorrhea
· Eat unripe guavas or its leaves, carrots, bananas and lemons or drink raw spinach juice
· Avoid starchy food, tinned foods, junk food, coffee, tea and alcohol
· Rinse the mouth thoroughly after every meal
· Stop use of tobacco
· Professional teeth cleaning from every six months

Treatment:
· Implement a good oral hygiene program
· Deep cleaning is a painful dental procedure that scrapes the plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line
· Use a strong bacteria fighter
· Lemon juice, when rubbed on gums, gives relief in case of bleeding gums
· Chewing soaked black grams, coconut scrap, raw fruits and sugarcane is a good exercise for teeth

  2. It is recommended that you keep your teeth clean and polish every 6 months. Although it costs quite a lot, you will find it worth the effort. But the dentist is not enough, you should brush your teeth immediately after eating, floss daily, use mouthwash.
